Why should the holidays be a time for competition? Does my house have as many lights as yours? Is your home decorated nicer? Will people notice your tree more? Whose cookies taste the best? Are my family pictures that creative? It's crazy what the holidays can do to your insecurities. Should we really be comparing ourselves to what our neighbors are doing? "A flower does not think of competing with the flower next to it. It just blooms." I love this visual. Each flower, unique on its own. Beautiful but different. Created with the same purpose but with characteristics all their own. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. Ephesians 2:10 NLT It was never God's intention to give us earthly things just so we could turn around and use it to compare ourselves to those around us. He wouldn't bless us with children just so we could compare our children's behavior to our friend's children. He wouldn't bless us with a roof over our heads just to compare our house to our family's. He wouldn't bless us with a job just to make us think about how much better our best friends job is. He wouldn't give us a car so we could feel miserable about all the nicer cars that "everyone" drives. God wouldn't give us a new calling just so we could be sad and have to say goodbye to the friends we have made. God doesn't bless us with what we have so that we can turn around and compare it to what we think is better. What a waste of a blessing! I will praise you, Lord , with all my heart; I will tell of all the marvelous things you have done. Psalms 9:1 NLT Instead of comparing what we think things should be like, let's use this time of year to spread the cheer of knowing Christ. Tell of His blessings in your life. No matter how big or small! A car (no matter what kind) is a blessing! To have children is a blessing! A house is a blessing! Decorations are a blessing! Cookies (baked or bought) are a blessing! Family (together or not) is a blessing! A job is a blessing!
Shoot, sometimes just getting 3 kids out of the house dressed is a blessing! Find your blessings! A relationship with God is the biggest and most important blessing of all. If you have just one blessing let people know! Let His light shine and let your thanks to Him flow from your lips this holiday season ❤️🎄⛄ Merry Almost Christmas to you!
